CENTRAL OKLAHOMA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Has an IABC Central Oklahoma board member been exceptionally helpful? Know an extraordinarily hard-working committee volunteer? The volunteer recognition award will be given to a deserving IABC Central Oklahoma board member or committee member. Volunteer contributions are demonstrated by results achieved in leadership roles and/or positions, such as committees, task forces, teams, special projects, and similar initiatives. 
 
Award Details
The purpose of the Volunteer of the Year award is to recognize volunteer work done by an IABC Central Oklahoma board or committee member who advanced the vision and mission of IABC Central Oklahoma.
 
IABC Central Oklahoma will present one volunteer recognition award annually during the IABC Central Oklahoma Bronze Quill Awards ceremony. The Volunteer of the Year Award will be given to a deserving IABC Central Oklahoma board or committee member. Volunteer contributions are demonstrated by results achieved in leadership roles and/or positions, such as committees, task forces, teams, special projects and similar initiatives.
 
All nominees must meet the following criteria:
•Have contributed to the IABC Central Oklahoma mission and vision at either the local chapter or national or international level
•Have carried out volunteer (professional unpaid) activities
•Demonstrated that he/she follows through on volunteer commitments
•Conducted volunteer activities in accordance with the IABC Code of Ethics
•Been a member of IABC throughout the period during which the voluntary activities were conducted

Call for Nominations
All members of IABC OKC are invited to submit nominations to the President of IABC Central Oklahoma using the online form. Nominations will be reviewed by the board president.  A member can be recognized with the Volunteer of the Year Award on more than one occasion under exceptional circumstances as determined by the IABC Central Oklahoma Board.
 
Nomination Process
Describe the accomplishment(s) for which the individual has been nominated and the impact he or she has had on IABC Central Oklahoma by providing detailed information for each of the following areas:
•Explain how the nominee contributed to the IABC Central Oklahoma mission and vision
•Explain how the nominee demonstrated follow-through on volunteer commitments

Members selected for the Volunteer Recognition Award receive:

  • Volunteer Recognition Award presented at the IABC Central Oklahoma
  • Profile in a IABC Central Oklahoma newsletter, website and social media recognition
  • Free annual membership or renewal

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA COMMUNICATOR OF THE YEAR
IABC Central Oklahoma’s members are part of a broad foundation of communication experts. The Central Oklahoma Communicator of the Year (COTY) award recognizes the achievements of one area communications professional whose efforts exceptionally impact the organization or community they serve. Duties may include but are not limited to marketing, public relations, advertising, web content management, strategic planning, public speaking or any professional who values and practices communication in their organization.
 
The call for nominations is designed to create dialogue in the greater Oklahoma City communications community. IABC OKC members and non-members may submit nominations. Nominations do not have to be for a communications professional within your own organization – nomination of communications excellence, wherever it might be, is encouraged. Members of the judging committee (a panel of several past and present IABC OKC Board Members) may also submit nominations.

What we’re looking for:
•Must be a communications professional in the Greater OKC Area
•Be an active professional in a communications industry in any capacity
•Demonstrate a solid understanding and support of communication practices within the nominee’s organization
•Demonstrate multi-faceted, multi-stakeholder communications
•The COTY will have a demonstrated track record and commitment to both professional and community citizenship
•On an on-going basis, the COTY encourages and participates in evolving new and innovative methods of communication
•Demonstrates strategic communication practices

The Award
Nominee selected for the COTY Award receives:

 Nominees will be notified of their nomination in order to accept and provide supporting documentation for COTY consideration. Supporting documentation is as follows:
•Examples of communication strategy and implementation in the past year
•Measurements of communications effectiveness of work provided
•Examples of leadership as community citizen
