The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is looking for a full-time Public Information Officer. There is only one position open, but there are two application links to represent the salary ranges offered at a PIO II or with the possibility of an underfill at a PIO I. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply for both lists by May 31, when the opening closes. This position will perform public relations responsibilities, independent research and service as a liaison to field divisions for their public relations needs. Expedites day-to-day activities of the Media & Public Relations office including analytical research for information sheets for managers and responses to media, public and legislative requests.

Produces and writes a variety of pieces such as press releases, traffic advisories, articles, talking points and topic summaries. This includes producing social media content and website updates and working as part of a team to develop creative slogans and branding projects. Compiles and organizes video news segments and newspaper archives.

The position will represent the agency at various public meetings, which includes some travel to statewide field offices during and after hours.

On-call availability is necessary. Strong writing and problem-solving skills are required along with sound judgment, critical thinking, high-level professionalism and organizational skills.

Preference will be given to the applicant who possesses a strong creative vision and ability to develop visually appealing presentations and other materials. Knowledge of Adobe Suite software for the PC and video production also are a plus.
